I decided to hire a Doula once I found out that I was having twins in my second pregnancy. It was the best decision I have ever made!!! With my first baby, I didn't have a doula and the postpartum period was SO different. With my first baby I was exhausted, even though I was so happy to have a baby and had everything I ever dreamed of, I cried every day. I wanted to enjoy my baby but I was just so exhausted, between the lack of sleep, the postpartum hormones, breastfeeding without proper nutrition and trying to keep up with housekeeping, life was HARD. I joined several Mom&Baby groups and it seemed that this was the "norm" so I settled for that experience, BIG MISTAKE!
With my second pregnancy, I wanted to have a different postpartum experience were I could be the mom I wanted to be to my new babies and my older baby and after much research, I decided to interview a doula. Even after meeting with Karmen, I had no idea the massive impact she was going to have in my family's life. I delivered the twins and the first night home, I didn’t have time to show Karmen around, I was so exhausted, so I just handed her the twins and went to bed. Karmen blew my mind, she was SO proactive in getting to know my household!! She didn’t only give SO MUCH love to my twin babies, but she also took such good care of me and my whole family. Every night, Karmen cooked delicious nutritious snacks and meals which she would bring to bed in the middle of the night while I breasted my babies (I felt so spoiled!!), she learned how to make Latin foods (I am Latin, so this meant the WORLD), she organized my whole house, refilled things such as soap dispensers, did laundry/folded it the way I liked it/put everything away in its place, etc. Thanks to Karmen, I had THE BEST postpartum experience!! I had the energy to be an awesome mom and enjoy everyday with my 3 babies! I was so so happy, I didn’t cry once! Every new mom deserves to have this amazing experience and Karmen can make this happen for you as well. I was supposed to hire her for 4-6 weeks and ended up hiring her for months! Karmen, thank you so much for allowing me and my family to enjoy such an important time the way its supposed to be enjoyed, we will always remember you and we love you so much!!
